Subscribe to an External Calendar in Apple Calendar (macOS)

Want to view your event schedule in Apple Calendar? Here's how to subscribe to an external calendar using a link—great for keeping everything synced on your Mac and iPhone.

Step 1: Copy Your Calendar URL

First, grab the calendar subscription link you want to use. This can be found in your personal page, see article for exact location. Example:


Step 2: Open Apple Calendar

  1. Click the Launchpad from your Dock.

  2. Open the Calendar app (Apple’s native calendar).


Step 3: Add the Subscription

  1. In the top menu bar, click FileNew Calendar Subscription...

  2. Paste your URL into the field provided.

  3. Click Subscribe.


Step 4: Adjust Subscription Settings

You'll see a settings window with a few key options:

  • Name: Rename the calendar to something helpful that suits you style

  • Location: Choose iCloud if you'd like it to sync across your Apple devices

  • Auto-refresh: Set how often the calendar updates

  • Alerts: Uncheck this if you prefer no notifications

Click OK to finish.


Step 5: View Your Subscribed Calendar

The new calendar will appear in the left sidebar of Apple Calendar.

You can:

  • Toggle visibility with the checkbox

  • Right-click to rename or unsubscribe

  • Set a calendar color


Optional: Sync to iPhone or iPad

If you save the calendar to iCloud, it will automatically sync to your iOS devices.

Otherwise, you can add it manually:

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, go to:
    Settings → Calendar → Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add Subscribed Calendar

  2. Paste the same link.


Edit or Remove the Subscription

Right-click the calendar in the sidebar and select Get Info.

From here, you can:

  • Rename the calendar

  • Change the auto-refresh frequency

  • Unsubscribe
